Contribute more… Contribute players!

Posted by | App News | No Comments

Both Android and iOS have very recently added the ability to contribute players. You may ask yourselves:

Why do I care about this new contribute players feature?

Well, if you notice that we are missing a player in a team, you can let us know what the correct one is by contributing that player.

How can I contribute a player?

You can contribute players by accessing the lineup page. If you notice that a player is missing from the team, which as a result is not allowing you to contribute lineups, you can simply click the “Add a player” button that is denoted as text on iOS and as a button at the top right of the screen on android.

This will bring up a form that you can fill in for adding a player. The only required fields for sending us a player contribution are “First Name”, “Last Name” and “Team”. On Android, the required fields are also denoting the * symbol, in order to make it even more helpful for you to contribute any missing players. If the player you have added is a valid addition to that team, it means that we will accept your player contribution. Hooray!

What happens if you accept my contribution?

You will be able to see the player that you’ve added to the squad of that team. How amazing is that!?

My app version does not have this feature. How do I get it?

This feature is live on iOS and Android, so make sure to go to the App Store or Google Play and update CrowdScores to the latest version so that you can start adding players today!

The more player statistics, the better!

Player information had been introduced a few months ago on our Android app, with only an overview of the players’ profile being shown. Soon enough, not only will you be able to see the profile of the player, but also the statistics of that player, as the screenshots below denote.

What will I be able to do?

As shown above, you will be able to:

  1. Select a competition in which the player is competing.
  2. See lots of information regarding the player’s performance over the selected competition.

What extra information will I be able to see ?

  • Overview of yellow and red cards that the player has received
  • Number of goals and assists for the player
  • Number of times the player has been in the starting lineup or the bench
  • How many times the player has been substituted

Faster updates. More battery. Less data usage.

CrowdScores was already the fastest live scores app, but we didn’t stop there.

Using Firebase Realtime Database, the app just became a whole lot faster.

What this means for you

  1. Previously the match list was refreshed either periodically or after your pull-to-refresh gesture. Now, it will just always be up-to-date. Whether it’s goals, half-time or cards, it will update straightaway. Magic!
  2. You will now use less data. Now we just download the right data at the right time. Only what’s new will be downloaded. This means optimal data usage.
  3. You will save battery. By using less data, you will use less battery, so you can continue checking scores after a long day.

Now not only will you get the fastest notifications, but also the fastest updating match list!

End of Season Review

With Real Madrid confirmed as back-to-back Champions League winners, and the majority of European Leagues now over, it is the perfect time to give you a quick overview of what has been, by far, the biggest season yet for CrowdScores. Here are our highlights of the 2016-17 season:

1,000,000 Users

We saw an immense growth in the CrowdScores community last season. After starting the season with 150,000 active users, we surpassed 1,000,000 active users in March 2017.

We’ve also seen more and more users getting actively involved, which resulted in a total of 1,541,289 comments on matches over the course of the season.

With the help of everyone we can keep on growing, so please keep on spreading the word!

Most popular match

Any guesses for which was the most popular match on CrowdScores this season?

Real Madrid, Barcelona, La Liga, CrowdScores, iOS App, Live Score, Livescore, Season Review

It was the highly anticipated El Clásico on 23rd April. A huge 37,092 users predicted the outcome of the game, of which 38% were correct.

The end to end game, which finished with a dramatic last minute winner from Lionel Messi, inspired CrowdScores users who made a total of 9476 comments during the match, including 315 comments reacting to Messi’s final goal. This works out at a staggering 105 comments per minute during the game.

We’re covering more games than ever…

We covered a total of 49,944 games from 337 competitions. We also added a host of new competitions for you to follow including the AFC Champions League, Algerian Ligue 1 and the Indian’s Women League.

We will continue to improve our coverage next so CrowdScores users can follow more and more leagues from around the world.

What’s coming next?

Work is already underway on new features for next season to make your experience even better. Here are just two of many upcoming new features:

Player Profiles –  See the age, nationality, appearances, goals and much more for players.
